Freedom on Wheels (LSR) Smart campervan hire management
Hire out your campervan or motorhome and turn it into an asset
Do you have a campervan or motorhome that you use only a few weeks a year?
In my opinion, it's worth considering renting.
Most owners use their vehicle during holidays, some weekends and little else. The rest of the time it remains parked, generating insurance, maintenance, tax and depreciation expenses.
That's why I see renting as a smart way to turn a liability into an asset.
You can continue using your campervan whenever you want and, at the same time, generate income when you are not using it.
It doesn't mean getting rich quick. But it can help you cover a large part of your vehicle expenses or even pay off a significant portion of the investment.
Buy-to-let or buy-to-live
One of the most important questions is deciding what you are buying the vehicle for.
Personally I think the best option is usually a combination of both things.
You can enjoy your campervan or motorhome during your holidays and, when you are not using it, generate income through rental.
In this way, the vehicle ceases to be merely an expense and becomes an asset.
Furthermore, when you buy a vehicle that you also enjoy using personally, it is much easier to keep it in good condition and enjoy the process.
That is why I normally recommend looking for a balance between profitability and personal enjoyment, rather than thinking solely about the rent.
Real visibility
Your campervan is published on Libertad Sobre Ruedas and is offered to customers looking for authentic and reliable experiences.
Personal attention
We are with you before, during and after every rental. Here you speak with people, not automated systems.
Transparent model
No fixed fees or hidden costs. We only charge 10 % for each confirmed booking.
Total control
You decide which bookings to accept and when to hire out your campervan. You are always in control.
Why did I also decide to work with vehicles belonging to other owners?
The most honest answer is that there is demand.
Every year we receive requests for different vehicles, specific dates or travel profiles that we cannot always cover solely with our own fleet.
Furthermore, I am developing this project as more than just a simple rental website.
My aim is to create a useful platform for travellers and owners, sharing real experience accumulated over years of managing campervans and motorhomes.
That is why I decided to open up the possibility of collaboration with other owners.

Most platforms simply publish an ad.
I try to contribute a little more.
I have spent years renting out my own campervans and motorhomes, making mistakes, learning from the market and seeing which vehicles work best and which ones struggle the most to find clients.
Often, a conversation lasting just a few minutes can prevent errors that cost thousands of euros.
For example, some owners consider buying a second motorhome identical to the first. However, in some cases it may be more cost-effective to diversify the fleet and attract different customer profiles.
I can also help improve photographs, equipment, battery autonomy, vehicle presentation or pricing strategy.
My experience doesn't guarantee success, but it can certainly help you avoid many common mistakes.
Common mistakes I frequently see among homeowners
Over the years I have seen some mistakes repeat themselves time and time again.
Buying an overly expensive vehicle
One of the most common mistakes is buying a very expensive motorhome thinking that it will automatically generate more income.
In practice, it does not always happen like that.
Often, a simpler vehicle maintains a higher occupancy rate and generates superior profitability.
Think solely like an owner
It is normal to buy the vehicle that you personally like the most.
However, when the goal is to rent it out, you also have to think about the clients and what the market actually demands.
Replying late to customers
Response speed is essential.
Many travellers look at several options at the same time and book the first one that gives them confidence.
Neglecting the photographs
A good presentation can make a massive difference to the number of enquiries received.
The purchase price matters more than it seems
Many owners focus on how much they will be able to charge per night.
However, in my experience, one of the most important decisions is how much you pay for the vehicle when you buy it.
A campervan bought at a good price usually offers much more flexibility when renting it out and achieving an attractive return.
That's why I usually recommend studying the market very carefully before buying and not assuming that the most expensive model will automatically be the best investment.
Sometimes a simpler vehicle can offer superior profitability and pay for itself much sooner.
Which campervan would you buy if you wanted to invest today?
It is a question I am frequently asked.
And my answer is always the same: it depends.
It depends on whether you also want to use the vehicle for your own journeys, the budget available and the income you expect to generate.
That is why I do not like recommending the same vehicle to everyone.
In some cases it can even work out more cost-effective to buy two compact campervans rather than a single large motorhome.
Small campervans typically require a lower initial investment, have lower maintenance costs and make it possible to attract different customer profiles.
If I had to give general advice, I would probably recommend avoiding brand-new vehicles when the main goal is cost-effectiveness.
Often, a one- or two-year unit offers a much more attractive investment-to-return ratio.
Is it profitable to buy a campervan to rent out?
Yes, but with realistic expectations.
Personally, I consider that:
- An annual % of less than 10 is generally considered a low return.
- An annual return of around 15 % can already be regarded as a reasonable result.
- Between 20 % and 25 %, we’re talking about a very interesting investment.
- When the annual % exceeds 30, we are usually looking at a particularly successful combination of vehicle, price and market.
That is why I always recommend analysing the demand before making a major purchase.
A good initial decision can save thousands of pounds.
