The first season of LSR365: clients, reviews and initial lessons

The first season of LSR365: the 14 reserves that changed everything

When I received the motorhome documentation and confirmed the first booking, I thought the hardest part was already over.

After eight months of building, the campervan was finally ready.

All that was left was to start renting it out.

But very soon I discovered that building a motorhome was only half the job.

Real learning began when the first customers arrived.

Between August and December 2025, my first motorhome was rented out 14 times.

In total it came to about 90 nights' rental.

The average duration of each journey was just over six nights, and the average price was around 85 euros a night.

Today those figures just seem like statistics.

But at that time, behind every new booking was a mixture of excitement, nerves and responsibility.

I used to worry about practically every customer.

Would you like to travel in a motorhome?

Would they know how to use everything properly?

Would any problems arise during the journey?

Because, if I'm being honest, along with them it was my first trip too.

The motorhome was already finished.

But I still didn't have any experience renting it out.

Virtually all of my first clients had never travelled in a motorhome before.

And very soon I discovered something curious.

Most of the questions did not appear because there were faults.

It was simply the first time they had used a motorhome.

How does hot water work?

How do you empty the greywater tank?

When do you need to turn on the boiler?

Why won't the lights turn on?

Does the gas bottle need changing?

The same questions started to repeat themselves over and over again.

After each rental I would note down everything the customers asked me.

Little by little I improved the instructions.

What at first I had to explain over the phone ended up becoming a written guide or a video that I would send before the trip.

It was then that I realised that a good service isn't simply about handing over a motorhome that is clean and in perfect condition.

It also means being available when the customer needs help.

Sometimes a WhatsApp message was enough.

At other times you had to call the mechanic or contact roadside assistance.

But my goal was always the same:

for customers to carry on enjoying their holidays rather than wasting time worrying about a problem.

Today, looking back, it is clear to me that those first fourteen bookings helped create the level of service currently offered LSR365.

Every customer left more than just a positive review.

They left a lesson.

And thanks to each of those experiences, the next trip was always better than the previous one.

My first LSR365 client

My first client was

Craig — August 2025

The oddest thing is that I had never thought about hiring a motorhome.

He and his family wanted to spend a few days at a campsite near Alicante. His children were really looking forward to going, but when they tried to book a bungalow, there were no pitches left.

However, there were still pitches available for motorhomes.

So they decided to try a completely different kind of holiday. Hiring a campervan, driving through the Pyrenees for a few days and finishing the trip by spending five days at the campsite they were so keen to visit.

It was a very special rental for me too.

I had received all the documentation for the motorhome only two days before. After eight months of construction, I still had many doubts. I didn't know what my first handover would be like, how to explain how the motorhome worked to people who had never travelled in one, nor how I would react if a problem arose during the trip. Furthermore, I still didn't have my own base in Alicante to hand over the motorhomes.

In this case I also had a bit of luck.

Craig’s family lived in Torrevieja, very close to my house. We met up at a spot that suited us both, I calmly explained how the motorhome worked and their first trip began.

At first we communicated in English. Later I discovered that Craig's wife spoke Russian and, from that moment on, all communication was much simpler.

Before leaving I asked them if they needed the folding chairs.

They told me no.

A while later I wrote to them again. I knew they were going to spend several days at a campsite and I was convinced they would appreciate being able to sit outside the motorhome.

They finally accepted.

Craig replied to me:

«Thank you for caring about us.

I replied:

«Of course I care about you. It's your first trip and I'd like you to come away with loads of good memories.

During the trip only a small problem arose.

Craig wrote to me because the reversing camera had stopped working.

I suggested restarting the Android screen and we didn't speak about that problem again.

I also sent them the Park4Night app to make it easier for them to find campsites and areas to spend the night.

A few days after returning, Craig published the first review of LSR365.

He wrote that the motorhome had become his family's home for ten days. He also highlighted the beds, the kitchen and, above all, that you always responded quickly whenever they had any questions during the trip.

For me, that review meant much more than the first five stars.

It was the confirmation that the experience I wanted to offer my clients began exactly as I had imagined.

What changed after this trip

After Craig's trip I understood that returning a motorhome in perfect condition was only part of the job.

The other part consisted of accompanying the client during the trip and being available when they needed help.

Since then, replying promptly to WhatsApp messages became as much a part of the LSR365 service as preparing the motorhome before each hire.

Ángela — Late August 2025

The next customers were Angela and her husband.

It was also their first motorhome trip.

Like it happened to many of my early customers, before setting off they had quite a few doubts. That's why, during the handover of the motorhome, I calmly explained how everything worked.

A few days later, Angela left a review.

He wrote that everything was exactly as it appeared in the advert, that the motorhome was very comfortable and that they didn't have any problems during the trip. He also mentioned that they never ran out of electricity or hot water. Furthermore, he highlighted that, as it was their first experience travelling in a motorhome, I explained everything to them in detail before the trip began.

But what I remember most about that rental happened afterwards.

When packing their things before returning home, they mistakenly packed several pillows and a blanket along with their luggage.

We agreed to meet up later, when they passed through Torrevieja again, to return them properly.

Some time later, Angela wrote to me again.

He told me he was pregnant.

Every time I remember that story, I can't help but smile.

That is probably why, among LSR365’s first clients, Angela and her husband still hold a special place in my memory.

Sócrates — Early September 2025

The following customers were Socrates and his wife, from Santa Pola.

They didn't hire the campervan solely to travel.

Their idea was to buy a motorhome of their own, but they still didn't know what best suited their way of travelling: a compact campervan or a larger motorhome. That's why they decided to start by trying out a campervan. For their first trip, they hired my Peugeot Boxer and toured northern Spain for a week.

The reservation began on 1 September.

But Socrates wanted to leave very early in the morning. That's why I suggested picking up the campervan 31 August in the afternoon. She didn't have to pay anything for those extra hours. That way they were able to load the luggage, buy the food and get everything ready at ease. The following morning all they had to do was get behind the wheel and start their holiday.

That very same day, Socrates wrote to me because a warning related to the brake pads had appeared on the instrument panel. He even thought about dropping by a garage to get it checked, but shortly afterwards we verified that it was simply a system fault and that there was no problem with the brakes.

A few days after the trip, Socrates left a review about LSR365.

I remember this experience in particular because it was the first time a client used a campervan not just for travelling.

Sometimes, hiring a motorhome also serves to discover which type of vehicle really suits you before making the decision to buy your own.

Marie and Marina — September 2025

The following female clients were Marie and Marina, two young French women.

One of them arrived by plane in Alicante and the other was already living in Spain. It was also the first time they had travelled in a motorhome.

Up until that time, the majority of my clients were over forty-five. That's why, when two young girls decided to hire the campervan, I admit I was a bit worried. I didn't know whether they'd find it easy to drive a vehicle of that size and manage all the motorhome's equipment.

Ultimately, my worries were unnecessary.

They adapted very quickly, completed the entire trip without any difficulties and enjoyed their holiday quite normally.

For the drop-off we met near Alicante airport and, after inspecting the motorhome, I drove them personally to the terminal. It was much more convenient for them that way to catch their return flight.

When returning the campervan, they only mentioned one minor detail to me.

On a sloping car park, the handbrake had not held the motorhome with enough force and the vehicle moved a few centimetres. Later we checked that the handbrake simply had to be applied more firmly, but I decided to check the whole system anyway.

After that trip, I took the motorhome to the garage. We checked the brakes, replaced the necessary pads, adjusted the handbrake and verified that everything was working correctly.

That experience served to remind me once again of the importance of listening to customers.

Although a detail may seem small, it is often precisely that kind of observation that helps make the next release even better than the previous one.

Johnny Marín Butrgo — September 2025

The following customers were Johnny Marín's family

They arrived in Alicante from Ibiza: two adults and a young child. I handed over the motorhome to them in an Alicante car park, where I calmly explained how everything worked. During the trip they only asked me a couple of standard questions about the water. Otherwise, everything went normally.

When they returned the motorhome, at first glance it seemed that everything was fine.

However, there was something that caught my attention.

The parents were visibly nervous and, as they left, the boy turned around several times to look at the motorhome. At that moment I thought perhaps something had happened during the trip. I checked the vehicle carefully, but found nothing out of the ordinary.

It was later that I discovered one of the skylights in the roof was damaged.

Most likely they had brushed against a tree branch during the trip. The damage remained hidden and, during the return, I simply didn't see it.

It is a story that I still remember.

It was the first time I understood that not all damage is discovered at the exact moment a motorhome is returned.

Alessandro — Late September 2025

The next customers were Alessandro and his wife. They arrived in Alicante from the north of Italy.

The day before the trip we were talking about their route. I asked them if they were thinking of travelling to the north of Spain, but Alessandro replied that they were going in exactly the opposite direction, towards the south, towards Málaga. He also mentioned to me that it was already quite cold in the north of Italy, so he asked me to get an extra blanket ready for them.

Although Alessandro already had experience travelling in a motorhome, I still sent him photographs and instructions in advance and, during the handover, I explained to him again how everything worked.

But barely a few hours after picking up the motorhome I received an unexpected message:

— «We've got a flat tyre.».

At first it seemed that everything could be sorted with a simple repair. However, shortly afterwards it became clear that the tyre was so damaged that it could no longer be repaired and it was necessary to replace it.

As this type of tyre is recommended to be changed in pairs on the same axle, it was ultimately necessary to replace both front wheels.

Throughout all that time we were in touch. Alessandro sent me photographs and explained what was happening, while I spoke to the garage to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. I paid the garage directly so that they didn't have to advance any money and, once the wheels had been changed, they were able to continue their journey with complete peace of mind.

That story reminded me once again that, during a tenancy, situations can always arise that it is impossible to foresee.

In those moments, the most important thing is not the problem itself, but resolving it as quickly as possible so that customers can continue enjoying their holiday.

Francisco Javier — October 2025

The following guests were Francisco Javier and his partner. They were travelling with their dog.

The day before your arrival, very heavy rain started in the province of Alicante. As I always did before every handover, I went into the motorhome once more to check that everything was in perfect condition. It was then that I saw small drops of water falling onto the bed.

I went up onto the roof and discovered that one of the skylights was damaged.

At that moment all the pieces fell into place. I remembered the previous customers, who during the drop-off had been especially nervous. Then I had the feeling that perhaps something had happened during their trip, but I found no damage when inspecting the motorhome. Now I understood that it had been precisely then that the rooflight had been broken.

Before Francisco's arrival I tried to seal it as best as possible so that they could start their holiday without any problems.

But the rain was so heavy that that temporary repair was not enough and, during the journey, water got in again.

In addition, a couple of minor issues came up. First, some electrical components stopped working, but we managed to sort it out in a few minutes via WhatsApp. Later, while taking some things out of the cupboard located above the bed, they accidentally pulled out some wires and the lighting stopped working. We spoke again on WhatsApp, quickly found the cause and they were able to continue their trip without any further complications.

That experience served to remind me of the importance of always being available for clients.

Often, even when hundreds of kilometres away, a problem can be resolved in a matter of minutes simply by keeping in communication and finding the solution together.

Yard — October 2025

The next clients were Jard and his girlfriend, a young couple from the Netherlands. Before this trip they had already spent six months driving around Australia with a tent, so life on the road was nothing new to them.

Before meeting we communicated in English. But when I went to Alicante airport to hand over the motorhome to them, I immediately realised that she spoke Russian. From that moment on everything was much simpler and we continued the explanation in Russian.

Before leaving she asked me what places I would recommend them to visit in Spain. Smiling, I replied that, after half a year travelling around Australia, it would be difficult to surprise her.

When they returned, he told me practically the same thing:

— After Australia it's really hard to be surprised. But we've loved the holiday.

During the trip only a couple of minor issues arose. One of them helped me discover a small leak under the kitchen sink. After returning the motorhome, I sorted that problem out immediately.

But what I remember most about that reserve was something else.

At the end of the trip they decided to stay two more days in Alicante before returning home. When we met up to return the motorhome, they showed me an excellent car park next to the beach, a place I didn't even know.

Later on I started recommending that car park to other travellers and even added it to one of the LSR365 articles about where to park a motorhome in Alicante.

That story reminded me that it is not always me who shares their experience with the customers.

Sometimes it is the travellers themselves who help to make LSR365 Keep up the good work.

Juan — November 2025

The next customer was Juan.

At that time he was already nearly eighty years old. He is Spanish, but has lived in Sweden for many years. Every year he travels to Spain two or three times to visit his relatives, who live near Barcelona, and to enjoy a few weeks travelling around the country in a motorhome.

For many years he travelled in his own converted Volkswagen T5. However, as time went on, driving more than three thousand kilometres between Sweden and Spain began to feel increasingly tiring. That is why he decided to try a different option: renting a motorhome.

It was the first time I had driven a large motorhome.

Before the booking he confessed to me that he was a bit worried. A large motorhome is very different from the small campervan he was used to. To make the trip more relaxing, I sent him several explanatory videos before his arrival and, on the day of handover, we went over all the operations together calmly.

As I was hiring out the motorhome for more than three weeks, I gave him a good discount.

During the first few days he gradually got used to the new vehicle, but he soon began to feel comfortable.

At the end of the trip he shared several ideas and small suggestions with me to improve the motorhome. Some of them seemed really useful and I decided to apply them.

Months later, Juan booked again with LSR365.

As soon as he saw the motorhome, he realised that all those improvements we had discussed had already been made.

It was then that I understood one very simple thing.

When you really listen to your customers and put their suggestions into practice, they come back.

Since then, John has hired our motorhomes on several occasions and has become one of the first regular customers of LSR365. People like him have helped improve our motorhomes season after season.

Juan opinion

Diego — November 2025

The next customer was Diego. He was travelling with his partner and their dog.

Before the trip we discussed all the details, I sent him the explanatory videos and, on the day of handover, we went over how the motorhome works once again. During the trip practically no questions came up.

When returning the motorhome, Diego told me right from the start that he had damaged the upper part of the bodywork, right above the rear doors.

He explained to me that he was manoeuvring using the reversing camera as a guide. The camera shows what is behind the vehicle, but not what is happening above the roof. That is why he did not see a thick branch sticking out over the motorhome and hit the metal bodywork.

We prepared all the documentation and sent it to the insurance company. A few days later we received the reply: that type of damage was not covered by the insurance, so the repair had to be paid for out of the security deposit.

Fortunately, I already knew a good panel beater who worked at very reasonable prices. Thanks to this, the cost of the repair was quite low and only the actual amount needed to fix the damage was deducted from the deposit.

César Alonso Martín — December 2025

The next clients were César and his partner. He is Spanish and she is from Albania. They travelled from Madrid by train to spend a weekend touring the Costa Blanca in a motorhome.

What I remember most about that reserve was how quickly a trip can change.

In the morning they were in the cold of Madrid. A few hours later they arrived in Alicante by high-speed train and, about an hour after picking up the motorhome, they were already by the sea in Altea.

It was their first time travelling in a campervan, so before the handover I sent them several explanatory videos and, when we met, we went over how everything worked together.

During the trip only a couple of minor issues came up. First they couldn't find the gas hob lighter and, later on, they wrote to me because the water wasn't coming out hot enough. Both situations were sorted out over WhatsApp in a few minutes.

When they returned the motorhome, César wrote to me:

It has been a very good experience.

Later they also sent me several photographs and videos of the trip and gave me permission to use them on the website of LSR365.

It's always exciting to receive messages like this. It means another couple discovered a different way of travelling and that their first motorhome experience ended exactly as they hoped.

Gunter — December 2025

The next customer was Gunter. He came from Belgium.

Before the trip I asked him if it was his first time travelling in a motorhome. Then he told me a curious story. Ever since he was a child he had been used to this type of travel: for many years his family had travelled in a motorhome and, later, his father converted a small medical bus into a campervan. So it was not a new world for him.

On this occasion she had travelled to Spain to meet up with her sister. She had already been touring the south of the country for several weeks in her own motorhome, looking for a place where she would like to live in the future.

Before his arrival I sent him the usual explanatory videos, but he immediately replied that everything was clear to him and that he was already fully familiar with how a motorhome works.

When we met for the handover, we discovered we were both heading in the same direction. After picking up the motorhome, Gunter gave me a lift home. At the end of the trip, the exact opposite happened: he picked me up and we went together to Alicante airport to say goodbye.

During the journey we kept talking, although no longer about the rental. Gunter was very interested in the campervan's electrical system. He asked me about the lithium battery, the solar panels and the whole setup, because he wanted to do a similar upgrade on his sister's campervan. I shared my experience with him and explained how I had carried out the installation.

When he returned the motorhome, it was spotless. After checking it over, I even joked to him:

— «The motorhome is clean, everything that should be empty is empty and everything that should be full is full.»

It's one of those bookings that I remember fondly because the conversation didn't end when the rental finished. It continued thanks to a hobby we both shared: travelling and enjoying life on the road.

Pedro Rigau Ballespí — December 2025

The next clients were Pedro and his family. They were travelling with their two children to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays in a motorhome.

Before the trip they asked a lot of questions. It was their first motorhome experience and they wanted to understand how everything worked: the heating, emptying the tanks, the kitchenware, the drop-off location… As I did with all my first-time clients, I sent them the explanatory videos and, on the day of handover, we went over everything calmly.

What I remember most about that booking was the moment of returning it.

It was already night. I arrived along with a friend and the camper van was already parked. Inside there was a warm, cosy light, and around the vehicle there was an absolute mountain of suitcases, bags and children's things.

I remember smiling at the thought:

«How have they managed to fit all that inside the motorhome?»

During the trip a couple of small hitlocks cropped up. First the notification appeared Check Engine, but after speaking with the mechanic we confirmed they could continue their journey with peace of mind and check the motorhome upon their return.

Later, right in the middle of New Year's Eve, they messaged me because suddenly the whole motorhome had lost all electricity.

We spoke on the phone and started going through everything step by step. Within a few minutes we found the cause: without realising, they had switched off the main isolator switch located next to the driver's seat. They switched it back on and everything started working normally again.

After the return, I also saw that the children had slightly damaged the fly screen on one window. Luckily, it was a minor defect and I was able to repair it without difficulty.

I remember that booking for the atmosphere it conveyed. A family travelling with two children, the motorhome full of stuff, the Christmas holidays and a few minor hitchets that we managed to sort out while they carried on enjoying their trip.

And what happened next?

That first season confirmed that LSR365 It was no longer an experiment.

Fourteen bookings, thousands of kilometres travelled by our clients, dozens of questions, minor breakdowns, improvements, new ideas, and a wealth of experience that would have been impossible to gain any other way.

However, the winter of 2025 did not mark the end of the story.

It was, in fact, the beginning of a new stage.

If you want to know how it was born LSR365 from day one, you can read the full history of the project:

Complete history of LSR365

In the following chapter I explain what conclusions I drew after that first season, which mistakes I decided to correct and why, in October 2025, I bought two new vans — Citroën Relay y Fiat Ducato — to start building the following motorhomes from LSR365.

2025 season conclusions and plans for 2026
